What is a naturopathic doula?
A licensed naturopathic doctor, that has a special interest in pregnancy and birth by supporting labouring women as a birth doula. We stay with the labouring woman throughout the duration of the labour and for a few hours after the baby is born to assist with breastfeeding. Our doulas are available throughout Toronto and York region.
What can a doula do for me?
So much! Research shows that the best labours are a well supported labour. We can help you achieve your desired birth plan, explain any medical terminology or interventions that might occur, assist with body positioning, breathing exercises, and breastfeeding. We also answer any questions you might have throughout your pregnancy and can help you decide when the right time to go to the hospital or call your midwife would be. In conjunction with standard doula practices, we can also provide naturopathic treatments such as botanical medicine, acupuncture, homeopathics, nutritional counseling, supplement review and more.
Will my partner feel left out?
Not at all. They are often quite happy to have the pressure taken off of them and welcome suggestions to help guide their birthing partners during labour and delivery.
